Video op K700i : .3gp ?????

  • Michiel 109 V8

    What is 3GP ? How to convert 3GP to AVI ?

    3G stands for third generation, a generic wireless industry term for high-speed mobile data delivery over cellular networks. 3G networks allow users to send and receive bandwidth-intensive information such as video, video conferencing, high quality audio and web data on-demand, virtually anytime and anyplace.

    What is 3GP?

    3GP - is the new mobile phone video file format.

    3GPP, 3GPP2 are the new worldwide standard for the creation, delivery and playback of multimedia over 3rd generation, high-speed wireless networks. Defined by the 3rd Generation Partnership Project and 3rd Generation Partnership Project 2 respectively, these standards seek to provide uniform delivery of rich multimedia over newly evolved, broadband mobile networks (3rd generation networks) to the latest multimedia-enabled wireless devices. Tailored to the unique requirements of mobile devices, 3GPP and 3GPP2 take advantage of MPEG-4, the standard for delivery of video and audio over the Internet.

    Extensions:

    .3gp 3GPP standard, GSM Network, Video: MPEG-4, H.263, Audio: AAC, AMR

    .3g2 3GPP2 standard, CDMA2000 Network, Video: MPEG-4, H.263, Audio: AAC, AMR, QCELP.

    The evolution of high-speed wireless digital networks is based on two predominant technologies — GSM and CDMA2000. Both types of 3G networks are currently being deployed worldwide to offer consumers a variety of on-the-go multimedia services.

    3GPP and 3GPP2 Mobile Infrastructure Solutions — Many of the world’s largest telecommunications infrastructure companies provide 3GPP and 3GPP2 mobile content delivery products and services to operators. Examples include:

    * Alcatel

    * Ericsson

    * Nokia

    * Siemens Mobile

    * Sun Microsystems

    3GPP and 3GPP2 Mobile Phones — Many of today’s new mobile phones offer 3GPP and 3GPP2 content capture and playback capabilities. Leading providers of these standards-based multimedia phones include:

    * Motorola

    * NEC

    * Nokia

    * Panasonic

    * Sanyo

    * Sharp

    * Sony Ericsson

    * Toshiba

    * Qualcomm

    How to convert .3GP movies, taken with mobile phone, into .AVI ?

    Convert 3gp to avi with QuickTime Alternative and Zwei-Stein Converter

    Download freeware Zwei-Stein Converter.

    Next, download and install free 3gp codecs intended for converting files: Quicktime Alternative.

    1) Launch Zwei-Stein (Click Start -> Programs -> Thugs at Bay…)

    2) Press File -> Import -> Import Video Clip

    3) Select type of files - “All files (*.*)”

    4) Open your .3gp video clip.

    5) Press File -> Export -> Video for Windows (AVI)

    6) Enter filename.

    7) Choose video codec. DivX, XviD or WMV9 are recommended.

    8) Click OK! That's all.

    NOTE: You can change several parameters before conversion

    - Video Dimensions (menu Destination -> Video Format)

    - Video Frequency (menu Destination -> Frames Per Second)

    - Effects (menu Source -> Add Video Effect)

    Convert 3gp to avi with 3gpToRawAvi converter

    Download the 3gpToRawAvi converter from here:

    http://www.allaboutsymbian.com/downloads/3gpToRawAvi.zip

    Unzip 3gpToRawAvi.zip and move folder ‘3gpToRawAvi’ to, for instance, C:\3gpToRawAvi.

    Move a .3gp movie file you want to convert to the same folder (C:\3gpToRawAvi).

    Then go to the command window:

    1. Click on the Start button

    2. Click on Run

    3. Type in “cmd” and click OK to display the dos window

    4. If you're not in C:\> go to C:\> by typing “c:” followed by Enter

    5. In C:\> go to C:\3gpToRawAvi> by typing “cd 3gpToRawAvi” followed by Enter

    6. In C:\3gpToRawAvi> type “3gptorawavi -o ” followed by Enter

    Note: Replace with the .3gp file name without the .3pg extension and with the .avi file name of your choice. Eg. “3gptorawavi Video1 -o Video2”

    7. The new raw avi file will be placed in the same folder.

    Note: A bit of experimentation shows that, on XP anyway, 3gpToRawAvi won't work if it's folder, or any of it's parent folders have a space in the name. For instance if 3gpToRawAvi is in “D:\documents and settings\” or in any folder within “D:\documents and settings\” then you'll get an error when you try to run it.

    Convert 3gp to avi with Mobile 3GP converter

    Download: http://www.miksoft.net/mobile3GPconverter.htm

    The Mobile 3GP converter is using “3GPtoRawAVI” converter to convert 3GP files (3rd Generation Partnership Project, *.3gp) to uncompressed AVI files (*.avi) in a user-friendly way. The 3GP video files must have audio in order to be converted. The program offers two modes, one for single file conversion and a second for multiple files conversion for converting many 3GP files at once. In a single file conversion you have the option to convert only the audio, only the video or both. The 3GP file format is being used by the majority of modern mobile phones that have the ability to capture video.
